ACI Recognized as Industry Leader in Ovum's Payment Switching Vendor Assessment

January 24, 2014

Leading research firm lauds both BASE24-eps and Postilion for their market impact—ACI only vendor with two industry leadership positions

NAPLES, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- ACI Worldwide (NASDAQ: ACIW), a leading international provider of electronic payment and banking systems, announced today that it has been recognized as an industry leader by Ovum, an independent research firm, in its new report, "Ovum Decision Matrix: Selecting an Electronic Retail Payment Switch Platform." The report examines software solutions for payment switching.

As noted in the report, "financial institutions are struggling to cope with burdensome regulations, reduced revenues and new competitors. Across the globe, financial institutions and processors are looking for partners that excel in application development, have implementation expertise and provide a robust set of capabilities to help ease the pressures on them."

"ACI's BASE24-eps and Postilion platforms both offer a high degree of reliability and crucially, configurability," said Gilles Ubaghs, senior analyst, financial services technology, Ovum. "This makes these platforms both more flexible to new payment innovations and more adaptable to a rapidly shifting payments landscape."

Ovum positioned ACI's retail banking solution, BASE24-eps, as a leader and stated "ACI BASE24-eps scored very highly across nearly every subcategory within Ovum's decision matrix. It is the next generation of the still dominant BASE24 classic platform."

Ovum has also positioned ACI's Postilion solution as a leader, noting "now that it has the added resources and support of ACI, Postilion is well placed to expand its functional features through the added resources of ACI's extensive R&D activities and wider support services."

"Customers have benefited from using our retail payment solutions to get to market faster, increase revenues, improve compliance and enhance overall payments productivity, and Ovum's ranking is testament to that," said Jeff Hale, senior vice president, retail payments, ACI Worldwide. "We are honored to have both BASE24-eps and Postilion recognized as leaders. This shows we are providing customers with functionally rich, flexible and scalable solutions to meet their payment processing needs."
