Harps Food Stores Controls Check Payment Processing, Reduces Fraud and Improves Customer Service with ACI Worldwide
(New York, N.Y. – January 16, 2012) - ACI Worldwide, Inc. (Nasdaq: ACIW), a leading international provider of payment systems, today announced that Harps Food Stores has selected ACI Retail Commerce Server™ for Check Authorization to automate check handling, reduce fraud losses and better manage collections for returned checks.
Retail Commerce Server authorizes check transactions at the point of sale to reduce losses due to fraud and insufficient funds, and to improve customer service by authorizing checks from trusted customers quickly without requiring time-consuming identification verification. It also interfaces with third-party check guarantee processors to provide an additional layer of verification if required for unusual customer behavior. The collections module reduces losses and operational inefficiencies due to returned checks by automating and streamlining the collection process.
Mike Thurow, VP, Store Systems at Harps Food Stores said, “Checks can be challenging for retailers – customers still want to use them but we know they can be costly to handle and susceptible to fraud. ACI Retail Commerce Server gives our customers the ability to pay the way they want to, while also cutting our handling costs and protecting us from fraud. The capability and scalability of the ACI solution, combined with ACI’s track record and presence in the retail market, made this a good decision for Harps.”
Ralph Dangelmaier, president of global markets and services at ACI Worldwide said, “Harps Foods Stores wanted visibility into trusted check writers, as well as the company’s cumulative check balance, to help reduce check fraud and collections losses. I am really pleased that ACI was selected to support their strategy.”
